5 Top London Wedding Venues

London, unsurprisingly, has some amazing wedding venues which are incredibly cool places to get wed. These venues always make for fabulous wedding photos! They have quirky features and are often unique buildings and places you can really put your stamp upon. But there are so many to choose from, so where do you start? Here I will share my 5 top London wedding venues which are great from a wedding photographer's point of view and I’ll cover why these places also make for amazing venues where you can hold your epic celebration with your friends and family. This is what the majority of my couples who book me are after! A place to celebrate, a place that is different, and a place where you can have your day, your way.

Top London Wedding Venue #1: Old Marylebone Town Hall

This epic venue was where I wanted to get married but I couldn't get the date I wanted! I did, however, manage to live vicariously through Morgan & Craig when they got married here in 2020. Their wedding was featured over on Rock My Wedding, so do check it out to see their full day - it featured dinner on a canal boat & an iconic London bus. I also captured the incredible wedding of Ellie & Lyndon over here before they celebrated in the uber-cool Heist Bank (literally known as the playground for grown-ups!) Old Marylebone Town Hall is a stunning registry office with a few rooms to choose from depending on the size of your party. The building inside and out makes for beautiful photos. The colours are clean, the stone building has beautiful features with large windows, and around the corner are pretty cobbled streets where you can have gorgeous 'couple' photos. The best photos to grab here are the confetti photos as the couple walk down the stairs at the front of the building. Many famous people have got married here, including Sir Paul McCartney, Melanie Griffith, Liam Gallagher to name a few. This top London wedding venue is THE choice if you are after a ceremony before heading to a restaurant, bar or even a canal boat to continue your celebrations.

Top London Wedding Venue #2: Clapton Country Club, Hackney

Clapton Country Club, an 'urban retreat in the heart of East London'. It is an incredibly unique industrial venue with vintage botanical styling. There are wrought iron bannisters, copper and steel lighting fixtures, rope and hanging wooden beams, distressed brickwork, parquet flooring and old school chairs. I photographed a winter wedding here in 2020 and it was brought to life more so with copper arches and toffee & caramel-coloured fresh florals. This beautiful wedding was also featured in Rock My Wedding and you can see more of that here: Jack & Joce’s Clapton Country Club Wedding in London. This venue ties in the urban and glamourous superbly that will make your day incredibly memorable.

Top London Wedding Venue #3: Asylum Chapel, Peckham

Asylum Chapel: simply iconic. The Asylum Chapel, a grade II listed building over 200 years old is a stunning old chapel which was heavily bombed in the Second World War. The building was pretty much untouched & derelict until 2010 when the space started being used for art projects. Fast forward a few years later and some restoration works, its now a creative space that can be hired for weddings too. Steeped in history and all things “Old London”, this venue is perfect for the creatives and those of you wanting a place unique, atmospheric, and romantic. There are beautiful stained glass windows, and textured walls and it is filled with candles and character. Just take a look at these images from Emma & Pete’s wedding. They married at the Asylum Chapel (not far from their South London home) before heading to Brunswick House for their celebration on a vintage red London bus, naturally.

Top London Wedding Venue #4: Shoreditch Studios, East London

Shoreditch Studio is a warehouse venue in East London. A place to truly put your stamp upon. If you want to see just how stylish a wedding can be here you only need to head to the wedding I captured here (also featured on Rock My Wedding!): Stylish Shoreditch Studio wedding. The building is two old Victorian railway arches, featuring high ceilings, exposed bricks, a mezzanine, and a courtyard. It is the perfect blank canvas and with the right creative team, you could have a magical wedding here. Another huge pulling factor for this London wedding venue is the location. Set in the heart of East London, amongst vibrant street art, you could have the coolest wedding photos. This place screams London and uber-cool urban.

Top London Wedding Venue #5: The Old Finsbury Town Hall, Finsbury

Vintage, ornate, and grand is what springs to mind and the most fitting way to describe The Old Finsbury Town Hall. If you want glamour in London with high ceilings then look no further. It’s licensed for weddings in the Council Chamber and you can have the reception here too. Confetti takes place outside and if you position it all right, you’ll get the unique art nouveau details of the building in your photos. If your guests like dancing then, believe me, you’ll not be short of space in the Grand Hall. Having the band/DJ on the stage will mean you’ll feel like you’re at a gig! What I adored the most about this venue was the spaciousness of it all, the spiral staircase, and the light.

London Weddings

London is one of my favourite cities to photograph weddings and it's a place I know well considering I was born and lived there up until recently! It’s still a place I call home. A London wedding may have logistics that you have to consider more so than if you had a wedding all on one site - though that’s not impossible to find in a London wedding venue. Two other venues that I have amongst my top London wedding venues are Trinity Bouy Wharf & Devonshire Terrace. Both of these venues are licensed for ceremonies and a place to celebrate after. I have yet to photograph weddings here and they are on my wedding photography bucket list. If you are considering having a wedding here or at any of the top London wedding venues listed above, do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
