London Wedding Photography at Clapton Country Club

I first met Jack and Joce in July 2020, and by December of the same year, I was doing their London wedding photography! These childhood sweethearts and I crossed paths on a shoot I was part of where they modelled for me, Jack being the son of the florist on the day, Amanda Steele. Soon to be emigrating to Canada, Jack and Joce wanted to get married no matter the restrictions in place - so they asked me to photograph their London wedding at Clapton Country Club just a few months after we met.
I was thrilled when Jack and Joce asked to book me as their London wedding photographer; they said they felt really comfortable in front of my camera despite not being natural at it, and after the fun day we had on the shoot they wanted another piece of the pie! This fabulous London wedding photography was recently featured in Rock My Wedding; you can check that out here!

Getting married at Clapton Country Club

The venue is unique and industrial, with strong features of wrought iron, copper and steel as well as distressed brickwork and wooden beams. The whole place is softened by its vintage botanical styling, beautiful lighting, and mixture of textures. Getting to spend the day with my couples in amazing venues like this is part of what makes London wedding photography so special!

Getting Ready in Hackney

We started the day in Hackney, photographing the bridal prep. Joce and her bridesmaids were relaxed and filled their chic Air BnB with laughter as Tiffany Rose Hairand Katie de Havilland worked on hair and makeup, respectively. Joce got dressed into her incredible vintage dress, handmade for her by family friend Angela Gladwin, and her bridesmaids donned a mixture of rich blue and green velvet outfits from Nancy Mac. Everything about it was unique from the very beginning of this London wedding I was lucky enough to photograph.

The London wedding photography

The ceremony was made up of 15 of Jack and Joce’s family and friends, with some joining them via the wonder that is Zoom! Amanda, the mother of the groom, styled the ceremony with her geometric copper arch backdrop and also provided beautiful flowers in tones of coffee and caramel, complete with apricot ilex berries.

The reception decor was warm and inviting with touches of vintage glass baubles and pillar candles, a nod to the almost-Christmas date! The wedding room at Clapton Country Club is named the ‘Department of Life’ - fitting given the intimate nature of the day, and the contributions by various family members helping the day to run perfectly! As well as Jack’s mum providing the florals and the wedding dress specially made, one of the bridesmaids was in charge of the stationery and Joce’s brother and friend provided the music!

The whole wedding day in London was a pleasure to photograph, with lots of fun and sentimental touches! Jack and Joce opted for a doughnut tower, sparklers and lots of confetti - they had an awesome first dance and then entertained their guests with a wedding quiz and games, since restrictions stopped guests from getting up to dance. The end of the evening was complete with pre-recorded messages from absent loved ones.

Despite the restrictions in place the day just oozed love and joy and was incredibly special.
