A STUNNING RESTORED GEORGIAN HOME AS A WEDDING VENUE

Aswarby Rectory is one of those venues that feels quietly special the moment you arrive. A Georgian house set in the Lincolnshire countryside, it offers a relaxed, elegant setting where everything flows naturally in one place, from getting ready through to the last dance.

The spaces are beautifully considered without feeling overdone. Light filled rooms for prep, stylish interiors for your ceremony and dinner, and gardens that work in every season. It is refined, classic and it photographs effortlessly. Every time I photograph weddings at Aswarby Rectory, it reminds me why it is one of my favourite venues to work at.

The light, the stillness, the sense of space, Aswarby has a presence that stays with you long after you leave.

  • Gina made us feel relaxed from the moment we met her and captured our day in the most natural way. We never felt pulled away from our guests, and the photos still help us relive the day every time we look at them.

  • Gina brought such a calm energy to our wedding and blended in so naturally. She never felt intrusive but still guided us to get the photos we had dreamed of.

THE DETAILS, THE PEOPLE, AND THE PLACE AS IT UNFOLDS

PAswarby is one of those venues I know instinctively. I know where the light falls, how the spaces move, and how the day naturally flows, which means I can work quickly and quietly without pulling you away from what is actually happening.

I photograph in a documentary way, focused on how the day feels rather than how it is supposed to look. I am paying attention to people, energy, and the atmosphere in the room, stepping in only when it genuinely adds something or if you need any guidance.

You will never be asked to perform or recreate moments. The story is already unfolding, my job is simply to notice it.

  • One of my favourite things about Aswarby is that you can both get ready in the house without crossing paths. There are separate wings, so the morning feels relaxed and unforced for both of you.

It also means neither of you has to miss out on having that part of the day documented. I can move between you both, capturing the atmosphere, the details, the rooms, the flowers, and all those quiet moments before everything begins.

  • The ceremony room is one of the things that makes Aswarby so memorable. A light filled white space with a beautiful fireplace that’s often dressed with flowers, it feels calm, elegant, and quietly impactful.

Guests usually gather in the orangery for welcome drinks before moving through to be seated on the wooden benches, which gives the whole ceremony a natural flow rather than a formal build up.

  • After the ceremony, everyone gathers at the front of the house for confetti, which is one of Aswarby’s best backdrops for it. Family photos can happen here too, or in the gardens around the back, there are plenty of options depending on the light and how the day is flowing.

While your guests move into the rear gardens for drinks, usually very close to the bar, I will be capturing the atmosphere as everyone settles into the afternoon. When it feels right, I will take you both for a short wander around the house for some natural portraits. It is often quieter at the front by this point, which makes it perfect for relaxed, unforced photos.

If you would prefer to do this earlier, we can also use the inside of the house, including the iconic staircase, which is often beautifully styled with flowers.

  • The wedding breakfast takes place in the gallery dining room, with long trestle tables and beautiful sash windows that flood the space with natural light. Candles are often placed along the fireplace mantles, which gives the room a really warm atmosphere, especially as the day moves into evening.

It is one of my favourite rooms to photograph at Aswarby. The layout means I can move around easily and quietly during the meal and speeches, capturing reactions and moments without being intrusive.

  • For the evening reception, guests usually return to the rear garden to enjoy the last of the light. This is often the best time for a short wander together, when the golden hour light settles around the house and everything feels a little softer.

Inside, the dining room is transformed into the dancefloor and the ceremony room is prepared for evening food. Guests move naturally between the spaces, and I will continue photographing as the energy shifts into the evening.
