Aswarby Rectory Wedding: A country house wedding in Lincolnshire

When spring struts in and works its magic, the world gets just a little bit more dazzling, and love stories bloom with extra flair. This was exactly the vibe for Charlotte and Ryan's spring wedding at Aswarby Rectory, which was pure enchantment from start to finish. Tucked away in the picturesque Lincolnshire countryside, Aswarby Rectory served up a breathtaking backdrop for their big day, with its charming Georgian architecture and lush green landscapes.

I was with Charlotte and Ryan’s Aswarby Rectory wedding from them getting ready with friends and family to the evening celebrations. It was a celebration of love, beauty, and the promise of new beginnings. Their careful attention to detail and thoughtful styling choices made their day not only visually stunning but also deeply personal and memorable.

Getting ready

One of the great things about getting married at Aswarby Rectory is that you can both get ready there in the morning and not fear bumping into each other. Perfect for couples who choose to follow the wedding tradition of not seeing each other before the wedding. There are separate ‘wings’ to the home with plenty of room to get ready in your areas with friends and family. Ryan chose to get ready with his groomsmen and Charlotte, with all of her bridesmaids. Charlotte then shared a moment with her parents for the first time that morning at the bottom of the stairs which was adorned with flowers.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was an intimate celebration in the main ceremony room (once the house's kitchens!). The room features an iconic fireplace which couples always choose to dress with stunning fresh flowers and candles. It creates a beautiful backdrop to your ceremony photos if you opt for this.

Friends and family, including the adorable flower girls, delivered beautiful readings that tugged at everyone's heartstrings. After vows and rings were exchanged, we all moved to the front of the house for confetti. I don't know about you but for me, the confetti photos are my favourite photos of a wedding day.

The Reception

As the front of the house is so beautiful, we opted to have family group photos after the confetti at that spot. Guests then continued celebrations at the rear of the house, in the garden. At one point it did rain - it was Spring after all and there was plenty of room inside the house for everyone to escape into. The rain shower didn’t last long, nor did it dampen spirits. After the guests ventured back outside, the couple and I took the opportunity to get some photos inside on the beautiful staircase.

Everybody who has looked through our photographs has commented on how natural everything looks, and how much joy you can see on everyone’s faces! Exactly what we wanted! We are so happy we chose to have Gina as our wedding photographer.

The Details

There is very little to do in terms of ‘dressing’ or styling weddings at Aswarby Rectory. Many couples opt for more stylish understated details and pretty fresh florals - think classic romance and elegance. Charlotte & Ryan's styling was a perfect blend of blush pink and white, creating a soft and romantic atmosphere. From the bridesmaids' dresses to the table settings, every detail was thoughtfully coordinated to reflect this elegant colour scheme. Charlotte looked radiant in her Rembro wedding dress. The boho-esque gown with its lace details and flowing silhouette, perfectly complemented the simple elegant style of the wedding day.

The Speeches and Evening Reception

The wedding breakfast room in Aswarby is probably my favourite room in the house - its so light and airy with period features. The room was set up with two long trestle tables and a top table near the sash window. Simple decor works best in this room. Bud vases and candles and you’re good to go! Once the meal is over, the room is turned around for the evening dancing. Charlotte & Ryan opted for a live band and cut the cake in their ceremony room to kick things off.

In the evening there was also time to enjoy the luscious golden hour. The sun sets at the front of the house where golden dappled light dances everywhere. It’s a beautiful spot for ‘couple photos’. You can even walk outside on the road that leads to the house as its so quiet and soak up even more of the golden sun.

As the sun set on their perfect day, Charlotte and Ryan left Aswarby Rectory with hearts full of love and memories to cherish for a lifetime. Their wedding was a true testament to the beauty of spring and the magic of love.
