An Uber Cool Shoreditch Wedding Venue

When I think back on Gemma and Alex’s stylish Shoreditch wedding, all I can think is how good the vibes were and how cool these two are! This one was close to my heart because Gemma is my hairdresser, and always makes me feel awesome when she works her magic; we’ve become great friends and so when she asked me (before she even got engaged, I’ll have you know!) to take her wedding photos at her Shoreditch wedding venue, I jumped at the chance. The new Mr and Mrs Adams are the perfect example of how to pull off a chic, monochrome look and embrace the fun at the same time…enjoy this one!

From Rural Rutland to Vibrant London for a wedding

Gemma and Alex are from Rutland (I don’t travel to London to get my hair done, c’mon…) but for their wedding day, they really wanted to get out of their hometown of Rutland and have a big party in the city. So off we went to London, where they had their wedding ceremony at Hackney Town Hall with its gorgeous wooden panelling. Gemma and Alex’s outfits screamed ‘stylish city wedding’ chic with their monochrome vibes, featuring classy sleeves, a long, epic veil with detailed edging, and black bridesmaid dresses. After exchanging the rings, they boarded a red London bus and hot-footed it over to Shoreditch Studios wedding venue for the celebration. This is where the styling gets really ‘OMG’...

Shoreditch Wedding Venue

Shoreditch Studios has a really cool industrial vibe and is spread across two rooms, one of which is mainly for feasting and one for partying. The first room is pretty special, with a white backdrop space for photo opportunities - a photographer’s dream! Styling whizzes Halcyon Halcyon decorated this space with dramatic gypsophila flower clouds with a pop of lilac, and the images taken here look like they’re straight from the virtual pages of Rock My Wedding…as it happens, you can find Gemma and Alex’s stylish Shoreditch wedding featured there!

Stylish Shoreditch Wedding Venue touches

There were lots of design-led details including minimalist, cloth-free tables laid out in a banqueting style, white roses and candles, and a beautiful drape of fairy lights. What I loved the most though, were the personal touches; the easel holding the table plan once belonged to Gemma’s late grandfather for his artwork, and there was not a single person present they didn’t know and love. Gemma and Alex really thought about the flow of the day and what was important, starting the celebrations later in the day to keep it compact and upbeat and doing away with favours and photo-booth style entertainment. They really emphasised great champagne and wine, classic cocktails, and fantastic food and company - the bones of any amazing wedding.

This stylish Shoreditch wedding wouldn’t have been possible without Gemma and Alex’s impeccable taste in suppliers, and I want to give a particular shout-out to the Halcyon team - the Shoreditch wedding venue looked phenomenal by the time you’d finished with it! If you’re feeling inspired and planning your own chic London wedding at a Shoreditch wedding venue, drop me a line. I’m always up for a trip back ‘home’ to London, particularly when your celebrations are as sumptuously style-led as this.
