A London Town Hall Wedding…With A Difference!

If I could describe today’s featured wedding in two words, they would be: beautiful chaos. Morgan and Craig’s story is exhilarating, unique and packed with zest for life from the moment they met until the day I captured their London town hall wedding in 2020. Getting to know them as a couple and hearing about the events leading up to that day were some of my favourite things about this wedding and, although it was micro in size thanks to the pandemic, the couple’s passion for experience and love for each other more than made up for it.

I always ask my couples to tell me more about themselves and how they met before I turn up to photograph their big day, but it’s not often that I relay the story here on the blog! In this instance though, I’m going to give you a snapshot of Morgan and Craig’s lives before their London town hall wedding so you can fully embrace the lovely whirlwind of it all…

After bonding over Taylor Swift the couple were Enchanted when they first met near Tower Bridge for a ‘quick coffee’, which turned into over seven hours of lunching, drinking and chatting! On the third date, Craig announced that he was heading off to travel the world. Despite never being in one place for long, he sent postcards and returned to visit Morgan in London periodically…and after a couple of months, they knew they wanted to get married. When I met them they wanted to get married pronto, as Morgan’s work was taking them to Singapore next! They told me they were looking forward to ‘a lifetime of unsettled madness’, and my response to that was nothing short of HECK YES!

The unique London Town Hall wedding

Their London town hall wedding took place in 2020 and we all thought it was touch-and-go due to the changing restrictions. In the end, there were 6 guests and I joined Craig and Morgan for 3 hours of bliss in London! First, they got married at Old Marylebone Town Hall. They were really looking forward to saying their vows, so this was a special part of the day for me to capture. It was important for them to really make the most of the time they had together with their guests on the day, so after the ceremony, we wasted no time in hopping on board a London red bus tour through the city to Sheldon Square. Morgan and Craig both love London; neither are originally from there, but they wanted to include the things they loved the most about the city on their big day. On the top deck of the bus, everyone toasted, and we were so lucky that the rain held off for them during their journey!

When we arrived at Sheldon Square we climbed aboard the most unique reception venue - a canal boat serving food by London ShellCo, essentially a floating restaurant! Craig and Morgan had both lived near the canal at one point in their lives so this was special for them, and they loved the ambience with the city in the background and the little sliver of nature amongst all the hustle and bustle.

Craig and Morgan’s London town hall wedding was an EPIC example of a micro wedding done really well and was featured on Rock My Wedding here. I loved capturing it because it was so unique and reflective of them - if you’ve heard me say it once, you’ve heard me say it a thousand times but…do your wedding your way! If the most important thing to you is that you end up married and it feels authentically, chaotically YOU, then you’ve done it right. Loving the idea of including boat travel on your wedding day? Check out this Rutland wedding which included a journey on the Rutland Belle! Want to chat about fun, documentary-style photography with a twist? Hit me up here.

Thanks to Craig and Morgan for asking me to be part of your awesome special day - I hope your life is full to the brim with adventure!
