Magpie Wedding feature: Woodland disco wedding
Music inspires me, it gets me through the day and it’s the starting point for when I am feeling creative. Even, every wedding morning for me starts with music very loud played during the car journey - though I may turn down just a little to hear Google maps tell me I need to turn around because I missed a turning!
Listening to 70’s disco music is what got me in the mood to create this bit of wedding inspiration that was featured in ‘Magpie Wedding’ blog. I tapped into my love for an outdoor wedding and noticed that the internet is full of woodland wedding images with twinkly lights and a fairy feel. I got to thinking and started to wonder how I could combine disco with a woodland wedding. Enter sparkly disco balls, bright florals, a shimmery disco wedding skirt and glittery stationery. I asked local Rutland & Leicestershire suppliers who I love, to join me in this creation and boy did they bring it to this wedding in the woods!
The shoot took place in a patch of woodland in Rutland, of course, it’s not a licensed wedding venue but I hope this inspires someone to create a wedding just like this at a wedding venue with plenty of outdoor space and woods. In the Midlands, we are not short of venues that have this! I can think of The Glade Wedding Venue, Upthorpe Wood and even The Hidden Hive to name a few.
Bring it together with amazing stylists like Two Eight One, flowers from Amanda Steele Flowers and go for a unique wedding dress from Coco Bridal Boutique to create a sparkly, unique woodland wedding.

I decided to push myself even more on this shoot. After a period of lockdown, I was itching to do it all so I filmed and photographed this styled shoot. It is one of my early attempts at filming and I have come a long way in a short time since I filmed this. I am incredibly proud of what I co-ordinated and created on the day. I hope you feel like that when you create the best day of your life!
