Leicestershire Garden Wedding: Rachel & Peter

Rachel and Peter arranged their Leicestershire garden wedding with an intimate church service in a handful of weeks - just 5 days before the wedding, Rachel called to book me! Equipped with the start time, the address and my signature documentary photography style and experience, I arrived to meet Rachel and Peter for the first time on the day.

Arriving at All Saints church in Loughborough for the ceremony, I was struck by the feeling that it was the most beautiful church I’ve visited! Rachel and Peter are of strong faith and have close links to Loughborough’s oldest parish church, with its historic features such as the path crafted from old headstones. For them, marriage really was about the sacrament and they had a beautiful, intimate service.

From the church the couple travelled in style to Peter’s family home, arriving in a vintage white convertible where the meal would be held for their Leicestershire garden wedding. It was an intimate, thoughtful celebration with lovely touches such as photos of Rachel and Peter on the tables, and lots of mosquito spray on hand! The expansive garden was set in front of a huge amount of land, which we headed off into for some ‘couple photographs’.

I didn’t have long with Rachel and Peter and, as ever, the day didn’t run to time - so we made the most of the 10 minutes before I left and found a stunning spot in which to bask in the sunshine, capturing shots that they can frame and remember their intimate Leicestershire garden wedding by forever. We were blessed with perfect weather and the most wonderful natural backdrop for their images.

Despite the very quick turnaround between booking and the wedding itself, my experience in documentary-style photography meant I was able to go with the flow of the day comfortably and capture the images they would most want! Rachel hired me for my documentary style, as it means I’m able to work with the day as planned rather than moulding it around your photography. The 5-day lead time proves that whilst it may involve a long phone conversation to nail down the details, I can accommodate last minute weddings if I’m available!
