A Seriously Stylish Islington Town Hall Wedding

My Love for London town hall weddings

I always love a trip to the capital for a good wedding (yep, I cover London!), so capturing Lauren and Ollie’s ever-so-stylish Islington Town Hall wedding on a sunny summer day was a great time. Highlights of the event included a popping orange bouquet, a Mexican wave of tears (I’ll explain later…) and a friendship between the couple and I that’s still going strong. Read on for some truly yummy inspiration…

It was really important to Lauren and Ollie that their Islington Town Hall wedding was different - they wanted to play by the rules but also mix it up and make it their own…so when they contacted me to be their photographer, it was an enthusiastic YES! My style of photography and their style of wedding were a match made in heaven, and they told me they loved that I ‘make everyone laugh and capture people at their happiest’. If you’ve ever seen my Instagram stories, you’ll already know this to be true!

The legal ceremony at Islington Town Hall

One of the things I really loved about Lauren and Ollie’s wedding was that they split it into two parts, essentially having the best of both worlds. The first event was their legal ceremony at Islington Town Hall, where the first ‘Mexican wave’ of crying was started by Ollie - once he started, he set everyone else off too! They had their nearest and dearest there to witness their intimate ceremony, and Lauren looked outrageously cool in a chic bridal suit with a striking orange bouquet by Your London Florist. As Lauren is a graphic designer, I shouldn’t have expected anything less from the couple than top-tier style and styling, and it didn’t end there! After the ceremony, they headed off for a classic pub lunch with their loved ones, and we took some creative snaps around the Islington Town Hall area…we even waited an age for a bus to get in the background! There is no shortage of photo spots if you were to have an Islington Town Hall wedding. We can go for a wander around the area and incorporate the busy London life as well as having the old London townhouses and pubs to incorporate the London that was. What I love about the Islington Town Hall area is the colour and uber-chic feel to it - colourful doors, walls and not forgetting the pops of red from the well-known fire station and London buses. The Islington Town Hall itself is picture-perfect inside. It’s clean and grand with its historic features. I can totally see why Lauren & Ollie chose an Islington Town Hall wedding.

The celebration at The Copse Country House

In the name of creating a wedding that was personal and unique, Lauren and Ollie wanted to get all their friends and family back together for one big party a couple of days later. I joined them once again to shoot their soiree at The Copse, and was blown away by how well thought out the aesthetic of the day was. Lauren’s talent really shone through, and everything from the bridesmaid’s dresses to the signage and the decor were chosen intentionally and looked incredible.

There were so many sweet personal touches throughout the day - attention to detail was on point! Lauren and Ollie had all their favourite things at their wedding party; it was an outdoor summer garden party vibe, with Thai food and lots of dancing and laughter. They even included personalised beer and gin tastings and created a lot of the decor themselves (see, super talented! Here are Lauren’s deets in case you want to chat with her…). There was yet another Mexican wave of tears when Lauren’s sister acted as the officiant for their ceremony, and their readings were all personal and heartfelt. In the evening, Lauren rocked yet another seriously cool outfit of bridal separates from The Own Studio and everyone took to the dancefloor for a PARTY!

I absolutely loved this Islington Town Hall wedding for so many reasons: Lauren and Ollie really embraced doing things their way, made the whole thing so much fun for their loved ones and created a gorgeous setting for it all. I love staying in touch with them via Instagram, where Ollie and I continue to bond over our love of Kerrupt FM and I keep an eye on which museums Lauren is frequenting in London. Did I mention the whole sh’bang was featured on Rock My Wedding?
