Barnsdale Lodge Hotel Wedding Photography

I have had the pleasure of capturing a couple of weddings at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel in Rutland and it’s so easy to see why people choose this venue. It has that charming stone cottage-type look typical to the historic buildings in Rutland, with beautiful well-tended outside space. It is definitely the place where you can put your wedding stamp on it and enjoy the outdoors for a summer wedding. The fact that it's a short few minutes away from Rutland Water means you can also easily hop over there for more wedding photos! So, with Rutland water on its doorstep, its historic charm and plenty of green space - it pretty much is a perfect backdrop for a wedding.

Barnsdale Lodge Hotel: From New Zealand to Rutland in the Spring.

Alyssa & Dave celebrated their UK wedding at Barnsdale Lodge Alyssa and David got in touch with me just the other week as they had decided to have wedding part 2 in the U.K. They had wedding no1. not too long ago in New Zealand. I’m pretty sure I could have made myself available for that day had I known (Ha!)

It was my first wedding of 2022 and incredibly windy which I love because I love the way hair and veils move, I don't know why but it just adds a bit of romance. Maybe it's the stillness of the moments between a couple with the wind swirling around them that does this? Whatever it is, it makes a good wedding photo in my opinion! I walked away absolutely in love with everyone and my job. My cheeks ached from laughing at the speeches - some of the best I have heard and I haven’t felt that warm and fuzzy in ages.

Alyssa & David had their wedding in the Barnsdale Hotel, using the grounds and the conservatory (which has heated floors so perfect for a small winter wedding!). Have a look at some of their day below.

Barnsdale Lodge Hotel Summer Wedding: Rutland Water & Barnsdale

Getting married during the obscene UK heatwave 2022: Stacey & Dougie completed it! The word of the day was FINALLY for this pair. They FINALLY got their day at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel. These two had planned to get hitched in 2020 and if they can handle a pandemic which forced many postponements, then they can handle a lil' heat. A beautiful day, well worth the wait. Stacey and Dougie are both local to Rutland and got ready in their family homes, got married in the stunning Normanton Church and had their wedding reception in the Barnsdale Lodge hotel barn. As it was such a bright and hot day, we decided to do their couple photos in the evening and drove back to Rutland Water and Normanton Church for some stunning sunset photos. That's the beauty of having a wedding at Barnsdale Lodge hotel - a stone's throw from the scenic Rutland Water.

Barnsdale Lodge Hotel Winter Wedding: Oakham & Barnsdale, Rutland

It was 4th date lucky for Jen & Nick who originally planned on a late Spring wedding at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel but with Covid, they postponed to a completely different season after 4 attempts at finding a new date. Jen got ready at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel and the had her hair and make up done at the hair salon, Glow, at Barnsdale. After sprucing up, she and Nick married at All Saints Church in Oakham before heading to Barnsdale Lodge Hotel for their wedding reception. They had their reception in the courtyard and found warmth in the Barnsdale Lodge conservatory before heading to the barn for their wedding breakfast and dancefloor. They had the most FABULOUS church wedding service with so many chuckles, LOADS of (kiss) dips without the salsa & an incredible wedding party at Barnsdale Lodge that MADE the wedding
