Rutland Marquee Wedding: Sunshine & Sombreros

Sarah and Charlie’s Rutland marquee wedding story started at the oversized luggage area at Gatwick airport and culminated in a fun, laid back celebration drenched in the September sun. The venue of choice was the garden of Sarah’s childhood home, the same place both her sisters chose to get married - she told me she’d been dreaming of getting married in the church there since she was a child. It was an autumnal delight of a wedding, full of laughter and laid back luxury - the perfect way for everyone to escape from the events of the previous 18 months!

A Rutland Marquee wedding in Bisbrooke

On the morning of the wedding, Sarah got ready in her home, Bisbrooke House, with their marquee from Stamford Marquees visible from the windows in an atmosphere of preemptive excitement. Sarah and Charlie wanted a relaxed vibe for their Rutland marquee wedding day, and they really put their own stamp on the place with earthy, ethereal elements and a real sense of trendy luxury. They were always laid back and confident about their day whenever I spoke to them, and this upbeat attitude carried through to help create the most stunning day.

From Bisbrooke Church to the Marquee wedding

After their church ceremony, a mariachi band entertained guests as they relaxed into the day. When I spoke to Sarah and Charlie they described it as ‘a little silly’, which they felt reflected them perfectly! It was a joyful way to set the atmosphere of lively fun for the day. When it was time for the speeches the whole place was rolling about laughing, as Charlie’s dad produced a box of memorabilia documenting some of the EPIC pranks that the groom, his brothers and his mum (!) had concocted throughout the years! I’ve never multitasked so seriously, capturing the key moments and at the same time taking notes for future prank inspiration…

Partying in a Rutland Marquee wedding

Sarah and Charlie really wanted their wedding day to be a chance for people to let their hair down, and couldn’t wait to see everyone throwing shapes after a few drinks. Their DJ and saxophonist for the evening really encouraged this with a vibe the couple described as ‘bouncy’, and their hope that everyone would have fun and feel free really came to fruition! Even their first dance was lively and fun; they chose ‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros for their first dance song, and told me it often features in films at the European Outdoor Film Festival which they love to attend!
