Stylish? Tick. Full of fun? Tick. Untraditional and hosted in a totally unique venue? TICK! Ellie and Lyndon’s pizza party wedding was an absolute riot to capture, with the focus entirely on making sure everyone had a great time, a great party and plenty of pizza and doughnuts. If you love an informal vibe with a chic, city-industrial aesthetic then this one’s for you - come and grab a slice!

Pizza party wedding ceremony in Old Marylebone Town Hall, London

Ellie and Lyndon started their wedding by tying the knot at Old Marylebone Town Hall which, with its gorgeous wooden panelling and choice of ceremony rooms, makes a pretty impressive start to the celebrations. The laid back undercurrent of their day begun with groomsmen dressed less formally and bridesmaids in mix and match dresses, and after the ceremony the whole gang walked from the Town Hall to their epic wedding venue - I’d have loved to have been a passerby on that day! I’m really digging the amount of couples I’m photographing having London town hall ceremonies recently; the city has some beautiful buildings like this. Pizza party wedding reception in Heist Bank, London

After the ceremony it was time to kick off the pizza party wedding of the century, which took place at the quirky Heist Bank. Ellie and Lyndon had viewed a lot of classically wedding-y barn venues and quickly realised that, although they were beautiful, they just didn’t fit the atmosphere they were trying to create. When they found Heist Bank they were swept away by its interiors, which mesh cool industrial chic with cosy nostalgia - think house plants, wall art, twinkling lights and even karaoke. It was the perfect setting to host all their favourite people and get the party started.

Planning a pizza party wedding in London

When I asked them what the inspiration for their wedding theme was, Ellie and Lyndon told me they wanted it to be bright, colourful and full of life, and that’s exactly how I’d describe their day! They ditched the traditions that didn’t feel right for them and kept the whole day relaxed and fun, swapping the wedding breakfast for pizza and a wedding cake for doughnuts - it’s my kinda day. There were so many fun flairs an personal little touches that made this wedding unique; from the giant jenga and fussball table to the disco balls and pizza socks, the day just screamed ‘celebration’ from the word go. A special hats-off to their simply shamazing friends and family who really got fully behind the party and brought the fun and dance moves!

Shooting this epic pizza party wedding was a blast, and I really encourage anyone who doesn’t love the idea of tradition to embrace a more relaxed, flowing timeline for their wedding day. I have some hot tips on how to do this right here

These kinds of weddings are really my jam, and work so well with my signature relaxed style of photography that documents your day in an un-posed, cheese-free way and allows you and your guests to really bring it!
