Geometric wedding inspiration at the Pumping House

2019 started with a styled shoot at The Pumping House Wedding Venue in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire. I was super excited to be part of the magnificent creative team brought together and directed by ‘The Alternatives’ workshop. Truthfully, I don't know what excited me more - trendy geometric gorgeousness or photographing at a bloody awesome wedding venue which is a grade 2 listed building, a regional winner of the East Midlands Wedding Venue and former pumping station. Yes to ALL of the above!

The Pumping House Exclusive wedding venue

The Pumping House is an exclusive wedding venue in Ollerton. It was the perfect place to create a trendy wedding look with a geometric theme. The use of geometric patterns gave a bit of an industrial touch as well as creating a contrast of the modern feel in a historic wedding venue. The Pumping House is really a unique wedding venue in Nottinghamshire, perfect for weddings all year round. Personally, I think the venue is an especially great choice for autumn and winter weddings with plenty of interesting well-furnished rooms for the guests to mingle in.

Geometric Details

Geometric wedding stationery (provided by Chloe Ainsley Creative), Venue decor and props (provided by ‘Save the Date Event Stylist, ‘Bramblesky’ & ‘Raspberry Toast) and jewellery (provided by ‘Geo Attic & ‘The Lucky Six pence’), really brought the theme together. Along with neutral and crisp greens, whites and copper-toned floral decor from 'All bunched up' to compliment the venue and theme. Take a look at these photos to see why geometric décor is becoming more and more popular.

Geometric style

The geometric décor featuring hexagonal backdrops, copper hoops and hexagonal stands were all provided by Kate of ‘Bramblesky’. These are all handmade and really complimented the props provided by ‘Save The Date Event stylist’ & stylish metal place name tags provided by ‘Raspberry Toast’.

The floral décor was provided by Kathy Johnson of ‘All bunched up’. Knowing the distinct style of the wedding dress by Coop couture, Kathy created a bouquet that was simple with clean lines against different textures. The crispness of the white and greens were brought together by using warming Magnolia. Kathy knew that the caramel brown matt textured Magnolia leaves would go well with the metallic and the glossy greens would continue the modern crisp feel. Kathy finished off the bouquet by creating a flowing tied bouquet to keep it clean looking.

Kathy of ‘All bunched up’ complimented the metallic, simple straight lines and modern angles with the tropical leaves of Phalaenopsis because of their “beautiful curves.” This florist knows her stuff!

A simple wedding cake also becomes instantly couture with a simple geometric touch added to it. Lorien Storey of 'Storeybook Wedding Cakes' provided a marble-finished cake. She felt that “marble and geometric go together like milk and cookies”. She provided a main centrepiece cake and two smaller cakes which were framed within geometric stands. Storeybook Cakes also made hexagonal marble biscuits with gold leaf accents, cake pops on glittery forks, macarons, chocolate gems and pyramids. All of which were designed and coloured to fit the theme perfectly. They tasted delicious too!

And whilst on the topic of food, the cheese board spread provided by Fig & Ginger was also divine. Perfect for guests to nibble on whilst they mingle. Fig and Ginger also provided breakfast brunch items which is a must for the ‘getting ready’ party every bride and groom have before they say ‘I do’. The Pumping House Wedding Venue not only has a suite to get ready in, but also a kitchen and dining room, giving you plenty of room for all those getting ready to spread out and relax in.

Geometric wedding dress

Even fashion has gone geometric. Amy wore a dress by Gracie Cooper of CoopCouture, a silk knitted wedding dress complete with a cape. The art deco-inspired shoes were provided by Rachel Simpson. Again, totally on-trend and very elegant. Both the dress and the shoes, with their subtle geometric pattern, came to life amongst the surrounding geometric shapes, patterns and vintage décor of the Pumping House. Makeup and hair was provided by Kelly Warner, keeping on theme with elegant, natural makeup and a trendy braided up-do which showed off the geometric hairpiece perfectly. Jay wore a funky tie to complement the floral decor.

Why I fell in love with The Pumping House Wedding Venue

I love the Pumping House wedding venue because not only is it pretty much wall to wall large windows to the sides and above but because of the abundance of rooms in the building. Each has been decorated with vintage and quirky elements which allows for unique wedding photographs. The Pumping house red-bricked building is set in the middle of Sherwood Forest allowing for more opportunities to create beautiful wedding photographs outside too. You can be certain to hold a one-of-a-kind wedding ceremony at this Pumping House wedding venue with a good set of one-of-a-kind wedding photographs too!
