A Luxury DIY Wedding: Crafty & Classy

Are you a creative couple who loves the idea of getting crafty for your wedding day? Then feast your eyes on Kathleen and Adam’s luxury DIY wedding from last August, and prepare to be seriously inspired! This summer garden marquee wedding at the family home was impressive for so many reasons, not least because Kathleen and Adam made nearly everything themselves. When you see the marquee styling you’ll think I’m pulling your leg - it’s that good!

Planning a luxury DIY wedding

Kathleen and Adam told me before the wedding that their relationship was built on creativity, and they were hoping their guests would remember how personal the whole day was. Often the ceremony part of a wedding can play second fiddle to the long-awaited party, but in their feature on Rock My Wedding the couple stressed that this part was really important to them. After all, the actual marrying bit is the whole reason everyone turns up! The ceremony at Kathleen and Adam’s luxury DIY wedding took place in the garden of the house, and they met each other at the end of a pampas-lined aisle against the backdrop of a stunning moongate all created by florist Daisy Ellen. Kathleen’s brother performed the celebrant ceremony and the couple had written their own vows, and the weather couldn’t have been kinder as everyone looked on with happy tears in their eyes.

Styling a luxury DIY wedding

The styling of this luxury DIY wedding is one of the most memorable parts, and it was totally inspired by Kathleen’s favourite film ‘Father of the Bride’! There were lots of little nods to this throughout the day, including a toy swan and some personalised white trainers during the speech - if you know, you know! The inside of the clearspan marquee was EPIC, and the most incredible part is that Kathleen and Adam made so much of it themselves. From the invitations to the signage on the day, the place mats, napkins and even the flowers and wooden letters in the marquee…it looked exquisite in warm copper and toffee tones, and the little aloe plants with cute messages were a lovely detail. They were so excited to see their vision come to life, and come to life it definitely DID!

Partying in luxury DIY wedding style

As night fell the marquee really came into its own and transformed into a dancefloor, with Kelly’s Heroes getting the party started with an Irish hour! Kathleen and her bridesmaids danced the night away in their home-made dresses (yep, REALLY, and Kathleen’s even had POCKETS!), as their DJ Ear Candy kept the atmosphere going. This was such a special wedding to capture, and I created a video for their luxury DIY wedding too. Hats off to them for creating such an on-trend, memorable occasion using their incredible talents!

Kathleen and Adam also asked me to create a highlight film of their Luxury DIY wedding. Hit play here to really soak up the atmosphere of their day!
