Halfmoon Farm Wedding, Hambleton: Mr & Little Miss Fun

Pete and Anneka, where do I START? Back in April, I captured this bloody beautiful marquee wedding in the most incredible setting, and can I just say I think it was one of my favourite weddings ever!? Pete and Anneka’s Halfmoon Farm wedding in Hambleton, Rutland, was a first for me having never come across the venue before, but you’ll soon see why I’m dying to go back. The whole day was a riot from start to finish and I can genuinely say I felt like part of the group. The Halfmoon Farm wedding venue was picturesque, the banter was on point and the fun was flowing!

The wedding ceremony at Exton Estates, Rutland

When Pete found me on Google he joked that he was a bit of a groomzilla, but the truth is he just wanted everything to be perfect for Anneka. I cannot fault this incredibly lovely couple at all, and I bonded with the bride over the fact that she’s a primary school teacher (my past profession!) and that she has the best name ever (also my daughter’s name!). They were so excited about their ceremony and to make their vows to one another, and they chose Fort Henry in Exton Park, Rutland to have their civil ceremony because they frequently walked past it in their local area and fell for it.

On the day, Pete and Anneka lucked out with fantastic registrars and I ended up almost peeing myself with laughter during their ceremony. Their readings were totally personalised and I’ve never seen anything like them before or since - they had ‘Mr Men/Little Miss’ stories written especially for them, and the registrar referred to Anneka as Little Miss Sunshine and to Pete as Mr Strong throughout the ceremony!

The wedding reception at Halfmoon Farm, Hambleton, Rutland

For the reception, we continued Pete and Anneka’s Halfmoon Farm wedding in Hambleton, in the most beautiful sailcloth marquee with transparent walls. Halfmoon Farm wedding venue is a stunning location with views over Rutland Water - basically my idea of heaven! The beauty of a marquee is that you can really put your stamp on it, and that’s exactly what they did. I gushed in great detail about the marquee over on Instagram after I left, and you can witness that in all its lovely chaos by heading to the ‘Car Talkoke’ highlight…you’re welcome.

Hambleton Halfmoon Farm wedding marquee styling

The styling in the marquee was all done by the couple themselves (Anneka confessed that, as a teacher, she couldn’t possibly let anyone else take over!) and it was the most beautiful, simple, rustic country vibe. It was fuss-free yet full of personal details, and I particularly loved their quirky table plan which consisted of alcohol bottles mounted to a pallet to tell people where to sit! Pete and Anneka had their confetti shot during their reception at the marquee, and I’m not kidding when I say there was SO. Much. Confetti! If you’ve read my blog about how to get the world’s best confetti shot, you’ll know this is an absolute must

Wedding photos at Halfmoon Farm wedding, Hambleton

For Pete and Anneka’s Halfmoon Farm wedding in Hambleton, we kept in touch throughout the whole lead-up to their wedding which meant we built up the best relationship. By the time the day rolled around, I honestly felt like I was among friends, which made it so easy to weave in and out of guests to capture the best images! In every picture of their friends and family, someone is laughing or smiling - it was so relaxed, fun and perfectly them. Pete and Anneka told me ahead of time they wanted lots of pictures of their guests, as well as specific shots with important people against the epic backdrop. As your documentary wedding photographer, I have suggestions for the type of shots you might want on your wedding day (read my top 5 here) but, ultimately, it’s your day. If you communicate to me what the most important shots for you are, I’ll make sure I get them and get them good!

The reason this wedding was so special was because it was completely relaxed, full of laughter and fruity language and had Pete and Anneka written all over it. They went with the flow, trusted me to do my thing with both photography and videography on the day, and had the BEST family and friends to capture.
