The Forgotten Rings at Old Cow Shed Wedding Venue, Melton Mowbray

Every wedding, I joke about the Dirty Dancing lift. It’s a thing now. I bring it up, we laugh, and then it never actually happens. Except this time, I didn’t even mention it. And guess what? I got it. Anna and Will’s wedding at The Old Cow Shed Wedding Venue, Melton Mowbray, was everything I love about weddings. It was relaxed, packed with personality, and completely on their terms. I knew it would be one for the books from the moment I arrived!

A Wedding That Ticked Every Box

This wedding had all the right ingredients. Everything happened in one epic venue, The Old Cow Shed, so there was no faffing about moving between locations. Spring weddings are elite because golden hour comes earlier than in summer, and we got the dreamiest light for photos. They had a celebrant-led ceremony, which meant it was personal and actually about them (they had their low-key legal ceremony at the local registry office a few days before).

The vibe? Incredible. Music, sharing platters, drinks flowing, and guests who were fully in the moment. Every detail was intentional, supporting local suppliers and ditching traditions they didn’t care for. The day was flexible, not over-scheduled, and never felt rushed. Most importantly, they trusted me completely, which meant they could enjoy themselves while I did my thing. No awkward, forced trends - just a wedding that felt like them. And that’s the goal, right?

When the Rings Were Forgotten

Some moments you just can’t plan for, and this one was gold. I rarely ask the groom if he has the rings, but something told me to check with Will. Turns out they’d been left behind. Mid-ceremony, Anna’s face when she realized? Unmatched.  Luckily, this duo is the definition of chilled. Rings were borrowed, vows were said, and they kept rolling with the day like absolute pros. It was one of those moments that could’ve been stressful but instead became one of the most talked-about memories.

The Old Cow Shed, Melton Mowbray: A Venue That Felt Like Home

Anna and Will picked The Old Cow Shed Wedding Venue in Melton Mowbray because it was relaxed, a little different, and let them do things their way. No stuffy rules or rigid schedules, just a stunning backdrop for a wedding that felt effortless. They went for a soft, natural palette of neutrals, blush pink, and greenery. Green table runners tied everything together, adding to the beautifully understated aesthetic. No over-the-top décor - just a setting that felt warm, inviting, and completely them.

Capturing It All – Photography and Film

Not only did I capture their wedding through photography, but I also filmed the entire day to create a stunning highlight film. My hybrid photography approach means couples get both high-quality images and a beautifully edited video, ensuring they can relive their wedding day in multiple ways. Hybrid photography allows for seamless coverage of key moments, blending natural, in-the-moment photos with video footage that brings the day back to life. If you want to learn more about my highlight films and how hybrid photography works, you can find more info by hitting the button.

Anna and Will’s wedding at The Old Cow Shed Wedding Venue, Melton Mowbray, was everything a wedding should be. It was personal, fun, and completely unique to them. From the unforgettable lift to the missing rings, every moment was filled with laughter, love, and the kind of memories that last a lifetime. Anna and Will found me through recommendations and loved my style of photography. They appreciated how I captured moments naturally rather than staging posed group shots. My presence on Instagram also played a part – they wanted a photographer who would make them laugh and bring a relaxed energy to the day. Thank you, Anna and Will, for letting me capture your incredible day!
