Shooting a Shottle Hall Wedding: Sublime Styling

Claire and Craig’s August Shottle Hall wedding was the epitome of laid back and loved up, and from the get-go they wanted to celebrate in style but without ostentation! I first connected with Claire on Instagram and we bonded over our mutual love of RnB, and I knew we were going to have an epic time at the wedding. The big day was the first time we actually met in person because they chose not to have a pre-shoot, and I loved that they trusted me to capture their day and all their fun, chilled out guests.

A Shottle Hall Wedding

Shottle Hall is a great wedding venue to capture; it’s a gorgeous blank canvas country house space, and you really have the opportunity to go to town on the styling here - and they DID! Claire and Craig brought in the team from Dress The Aisle in Style to make the whole day unbelievably pretty. They had an outdoor ceremony on a balmy day with foliage hoop backdrops and lots of blousy white draping, which complimented Claire’s bountiful bouquet of white florals. Claire and Craig’s two lovely children accompanied them on the aisle, and although Claire said she didn’t want to be the centre of attention I think she was dazzling in a Martina Liana Bridal gown - shh, don’t tell her! As they signed the register I was reminded of Claire telling me she couldn’t wait to have the same name ‘as the rest of her gang’ - what a gorge moment!

Music was hugely important for Claire and Craig’s Shottle Hall wedding, something I’m always down for! Their guests spent lots of time enjoying the venue’s outdoor space as Waking Vegas played throughout the day, adding to the laid back atmosphere they were hoping for. They were conscious that they wanted the kids to enjoy the day as much as them, so they brought in some outdoor games for them in the afternoon. It was so joyful capturing the little people playing giant jenga and funfair-style games in their smart outfits - a thoughtful touch!

When it was time for everyone to move inside for the wedding breakfast, the styling of the room was truly stunning! There were lots of white florals and soft chiffon drapes, as well as candles in pretty vases. The foliage hoops from the ceremony were moved inside behind the top table, framing the couple and their VIP guests! If you’re planning on a country house wedding or considering Shottle Hall, I can’t recommend highly enough getting a great wedding stylist to decorate. It elevates the whole event and will have your guests speechless! Claire and Craig swapped guest favours for scratchcards - imagine if someone else won big on your wedding day! - and all their signage including the table plan had continuity and style.

Having fun at a Shottle Hall Wedding

My first Shottle Hall wedding was so much fun - everyone embraced the camera and enjoyed the day so much, creating banging memories for the couple! I would recommend this venue and their team so highly - they’re brilliant, and looked after me so well too! Claire and Craig brought smoke bombs on the day and we played around with those for some smokin’ photos, and all in all I think they really pulled off the chilled out day of the dreams!
