A Retro Marquee Wedding at Halfmoon Farm, Rutland

Sunshine, swing bands, and sparkly disco outfits - Lucie & Will’s wedding at Halfmoon Farm in Rutland after their ceremony at Langahm Church was nothing short of spectacular. Their day was packed with love, laughter, and a whole lot of vintage charm. And let me tell you, it was *incredibly* hard to tear myself away from this crowd!

A Wedding Straight Out of the 70s & 80s

Lucie & Will aren’t your typical couple, they’re old souls with a love for all things retro. From their kitschy ‘70s and ‘80s wedding vibe to their passion for music, every detail of their day was *so* them. And let’s not forget Paddy, their beloved dog, who of course, had to be part of their celebration! The day kicked-off with the most heartwarming ceremony at Langham Church, where I *definitely* teared up (and I wasn’t alone!). Will, ever the romantic, summed up the most important part of the day in just three words: “kissing and holding.” And honestly? That energy flowed through every moment of their wedding day.

The Perfect Indian Summer Marquee Wedding at Halfmoon Farm, Rutland

When it came to choosing the perfect venue, Lucie & Will knew they wanted a marquee wedding in Rutland. With Lucie’s childhood memories of Rutland Water, Halfmoon Farm felt like the perfect setting for their relaxed summer celebration. Halfmoon Farm sits in Hambleton and overlooks the beautiful Rutland Water. The weather was glorious for their September wedding day. The sun was *shining*, the drinks were *flowing*, and the whole day had an effortless, golden-hour glow. When the guests arrived at Halfmoon Farm after the Langham church ceremony, they were greeted with a *10-piece swing band* (yes, really!) from the incredible Rutland Big Band.

Vintage Vibes & Thoughtful Details

The styling? Dreamy! Lucie & Will went all-in on their vintage and rustic theme, filling their marquee with seasonal flowers in vintage medicine bottles, handmade bunting from repurposed fabric, and carefully curated details that made the day feel effortlessly nostalgic. The boys looked dapper in tails, while Lucie stunned in a bespoke puffball sleeve dress, before changing into a *very* on-brand sparkly disco outfit for the evening! Speaking of the evening, this party was one for the books. And when the sun set? The DJ - described lovingly by the couple as an “inexpensive version of Craig Charles” - kept the dance floor packed with *nothing* but vintage bangers. No modern music here, just a retro soundtrack that had everyone dancing into the night.

A Wedding That Felt Like *Them*

What made this day *truly* special was how much of Lucie & Will’s personalities were woven into every detail. From the old-school music choices to the relaxed, lighthearted atmosphere, everything about their wedding felt like *them*. They wanted their guests to have the best time, and they absolutely nailed it.

Why They Chose Me!

One of the biggest compliments I can get as a wedding photographer is when couples say they *knew* I was the right fit. Lucie & Will found me through glowing recommendations, and after meeting, they knew I’d blend in seamlessly with their crowd, capturing the day naturally and authentically. And honestly? I couldn’t have been more honoured to be part of it!
