An Autumn Wedding at Tythe Barn, Launton
If you’re ever wondering what a perfect autumn wedding looks like, Kathryn & Aaron’s day at Tythe Barn in Launton might be the gold standard. Tucked away in the Oxfordshire countryside, this venue gave their day the most effortlessly romantic and relaxed setting – and I had the absolute pleasure of capturing every moment. From a heartfelt proposal in a garden full of memories, to a celebration full of laughter, cocktails, and family joy – this wedding was bursting with personal touches and seasonal beauty. Honestly? It was one of those weddings you don’t forget.
A Love Story That Came Full Circle
These two first met during the 2020 lockdown on Bumble, with their first date taking place in the peaceful surroundings of Eastcote Gardens. Fast-forward four years, and Aaron brought Kathryn back to that same spot – but this time with a surprise. He handed her a photo album filled with memories of their years together, ending with a polaroid captioned, “Where I asked you to marry me.” As if that wasn’t emotional enough, their families were part of the proposal photo album too – with photos of them holding signs that read “daughter-in-law?” and “son-in-law?”. It was a beautifully thought-out moment, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight.
Why Tythe Barn, Launton Was the Perfect Choice
Tythe Barn in Launton is one of my all-time favourite venues to photograph – and Kathryn & Aaron chose it for all the right reasons. Not only is it a wedding venue with a beautifully restored barn that oozes rustic charm, but it also has the luxury of on-site accommodation. Their priority was spending meaningful time with their loved ones – and Tythe Barn gave them the perfect setting to do just that. With the ceremony and reception all in one place, the day flowed effortlessly. And with the Oxfordshire countryside as the backdrop, we were spoilt for choice when it came to portrait locations. (Photographer’s dream, honestly.)
The Autumnal Wedding Aesthetic
The couple leaned into the rich tones of the season with an autumnal wedding palette: deep greens, warm reds and browns, and elegant touches of white. The groomsmen wore tuxedos, the bridesmaids stunned in dark green, and the flowers were loosely gathered and gorgeously textural – some arranged lovingly by Kathryn’s mum with help from a local florist to do the ceiling installations. Their Tythe Barn wedding felt warm, stylish, and relaxed. A celebration of everything they love – good food, great music, and the people who matter most.
Making It Personal
Aaron works in TV sound, usually behind the camera, and is a little camera-shy (even though he has the best smile!). Kathryn is a primary school teacher and first saw me at Ellie & Lyndon’s wedding. She said I made her feel confident in front of the camera – and booked me on the spot. (Honestly, the biggest compliment.) From the quiet, emotional moments during the ceremony, to the wild dance floor energy later on – this wedding had it all. The vibe was clear: Let’s celebrate.
