Want the BEST wedding playlist? Find out how right over here!

You have said ‘I do’, been smashed with so much confetti that you ended up eating some and topped up your confetti-filled belly with champagne and food. The only thing left to do now is shake your tail feathers on the dance floor to the best wedding playlist! Dancing is infectious and a good wedding playlist is a must. Here are my top tips to help make sure your guests get on the dance floor and stay there!

Keep the First Dance moving

The first dance sets the tone. If its party time then your first dance needs to tell your guests this! Pick a song that everyone can jump in halfway. If you have your hearts set on an up-close and personal song, consider going up-tempo halfway. Grab those guests, wave them to get involved. Spread out on the dance floor and bring them on. Works like a charm.

RSVP and name a tune

Add on a place for a song on your RSVP’s for a song request. These songs can help you build your wedding playlist. If they requested it, they will dance to it. Even better, look at your guest list and work out who is most likely to dance. Put their requests soon after the first dance so they stay on the dance floor dancing to the song they love! If RSVP’s are slow to come in then use technology! Open up Spotify and create a collaborative wedding playlist that friends and family can add to.

Listen up

Compile your songs and put them in order. Keep them fast then slow then fast again but above all, listen to the whole wedding playlist before your big day. I don’t mean sit through three hours of music but have a listen now and then. Throw a party and play a bit, see how it goes down. Get your hens/stags around and play it. Plan your wedding to it, with your other half.

Keep on track

It’s best to have a range of music played, some top hits from a range of genres that can appeal to the wide range of guests you will have on the day. Add those 'crowd pleasers', add the classics, add your guilty pleasures (Meatloaf anyone?) and add the soppy ones. More importantly, have music that reflects you and your fiancé. It is your wedding after all and it’s your wedding paaarrrrtttaaayyyyy!

Strike a pose

Book a photographer who can capture the wedding playlist you have created, unfold. One of my favourite times of a wedding day is to photograph a packed-out dance floor. Can you tell? I love photographing the first dance, making it sparkle and shine and then I love to capture the expressions and carnage on the dance floor. I'll stick around if the party is banging. I WILL ALSO STOP TO DANCE. Let me put my request in now…one GARAGE tune and I am yours. 10 GARAGE tunes and ‘with a lil bit of luck, I’ll make it through the night!”

And look at this for a bonus! Hit this link to hear my head boppin' wedding playlist! I guarantee it’ll get you started. Whether you have a live band or a DJ!
